Chung Cheng High School puts down roots in Yishun after decades of wandering
Chung Cheng High School (Yishun) completed its long institutional journey when the former Branch campus was officially renamed and reestablished in Yishun with effect from January 2006, ending years of transitional arrangements. Originally founded at Kim Yam Road in the post-war era, the school spent decades navigating relocations — from Guillemard Road to a holding campus at Sembawang Drive between 2002 and 2005 — before finding its permanent footing in the north. The renaming marked a new chapter for one of Singapore's oldest Chinese-medium schools, now serving the Yishun community as a fully rooted neighbourhood institution. The school's Hokkien Huay Kuan heritage and decades-long evolution from overcrowded post-war classrooms to a modern Yishun campus stands as a quiet testament to the area's growing educational landscape.
