Northpoint City quietly became Singapore's most ambitious suburban mall in Yishun
Northpoint City in Yishun holds the distinction of being the largest shopping mall in Singapore's north, anchored beside Yishun MRT station after a sweeping 2017 expansion that transformed it into the country's first mall with an Integrated Transport Hub. Originally opened in 1992 as Northpoint Shopping Centre — the first modern suburban mall in a major Singapore housing estate — it has since grown to house over 500 shops and restaurants, a public library, a condominium, and an underground walkway to the MRT. The Yishun Public Library relocated to its upper floors, and the Nee Soon Central Community Club was folded into the development, making it a rare all-in-one civic and commercial hub. Junction Nine and Wisteria Mall round out Yishun's retail landscape, serving residents across the estate's northern and southern precincts.
