The great Yishun mynah war: when ~900 noisy birds became a political issue

Yishun's long-running battle with its enormous, extremely loud mynah population escalated around the turn of 2020, when then-MP Lee Bee Wah raised the problem of roughly 900 mynahs roosting in the area and the authorities moved to cull them. The saga — residents, birds, noise complaints and a Member of Parliament all at war over starlings — became one of Yishun's more characteristically absurd public sagas.
